On the 18th March 45 mission to Berlin all participating
467th BG air crews were issued with copies of this "Identification" pamphlet.
Written in Russian, the pamphlet was planned to be used for any crews who ran into
difficulty over Berlin and who opted to land or bale out over Soviet occupied territory to
the east of Berlin. The 791st Chapman crew who sustained damage over Berlin opted to
continue flying east and several crew did indeed use the "identification" when
first coming into contact with Soviet troops.
