A 791st Squadron replacement crew pictured during training phase stateside. The crew were on their 6th mission when shotdown flying "Wallowing Wilbert" near the target at Hamburg on the 6th August 1944. Just three crew managed to bale out (Gamble, Johnson & Manning) before the ship exploded killing all of the remaining crew. Those who survived were taken as POWs. See Casualties page. Dale Ketchel was not on this mission but was later killed with the 790th Squadron.
