Crew were hit by flak shortly before "bombs away" over the target at Hamburg on 6th August 44. All the crew abandoned ship except navigator Seymour Gitlitz (seated extreme right above) who was the sole casualty among the crew that day. The remainder were taken POW. See Casualties Page
