B24H 42-95237 "Normandy Queen" 791st/790th B.S.

First heavy bomber to land on the Continent after D-Day where this photo was taken. Piloted by the 791st Squadron Lt. Charles Grace crew, the aircraft force landed on a fighter strip in Normandy on 12th June 44. Following repair, it was returned to the 467th and re-assigned to the 790th Bomb Squadron and the name "Normandy Queen" was applied. The aircraft remained with the 790th and was eventually returned to the U.S. after the War.
