29th January45 B24J 42-50621 Runway Rackheath

Returning from the 29th January 45 Munster mission, the 788th Arthur Anderson crew suffered a nosewheel collapse on landing at Rackheath. They had occupied the deputy-lead position in the 788th element and used this ship which was originally assigned as a "spare" for the mission. No injuries or casualties recorded. Note the extensive snow covering the base, a feature of the winter of 44/45 in East Anglia
