Crash-landing at Attlebridge
Another victim of the scrubbed "fog mission".
The 789th Lt. Russell Scott crew bounced on take-off, lost a number of the bombs they were
carrying, hit trees at the end of the Rackheath runway, but still managed to stay
airborne. Realising the aircraft was badly damaged they opted to return to the airfield at
Attlebridge where the fog had lifted. The left landing gear broke off upon landing but all
the crew escaped unhurt.
