"Tommy Thumper II" Old Catton
A pall of rising black smoke from
the crash marks the site where "Tommy Thumper II" came to grief.
The 790th Sq. Lt. John McArthur crew were engaged in a practice flight
when they lost one engine with No.1 already feathered. The crew attempted
to return to base but following loss of power the aircraft entered a stall
turn crashing close to Church Street, Old Catton. All nine members of the
crew were killed. See Casualties
