"No time for radio preflight. When airborne discovered compass defective, could not contact formation, Ceiling up to 22,000 ft. and down to 500 ft. Became lost. SOS to M/F D/F section H got us a fix and we came in over field. Visibility very poor, bounced on landing and left wheel came off. Crash landed with 6-1000lbs. GP's aboard. Plane a washout, no one injured.
