David Hastings was a little boy near Norwich, England when the Americans arrived in their B24 Liberators in the early days of World War II. David spent much of his youth hanging around the air bases of the 2nd Air Division, including Rackheath. He became friends of pilots, air crews and ground crews. Later in life, David became a pilot himself. He also became a lifetime governor of the American Library 2nd Air Division Memorial in the Forum in Norwich. David also organized many of the reunions of the 2nd Air Division veterans with their British friends in Norwich.
