Remember when the B24 flew into Norwich Airport in 1992? Some 32 years ago, a son of Norwich, David Hastings, who organized the 2nd Air Division reunions with its British friends in Norwich, flew in the B24 Liberator “Diamond Lil” across the Atlantic to Norwich Airport. The journey, ending in a spectacular arrival to a cheering crowd, commemorated the 50th Anniversary of the arrival of the B24 in East Anglia. Many may know David, and his wife, Jean, as they were active in civic affairs in Norwich and David was a lifetime governor of the Trust for the American Library Memorial to the 2nd Air Division. They played a key role in the opening of the new library in the Forum and the events surrounding the rededication of the Roll of Honor of the 2nd Air Division in 2001.
