Mission Narrative
The 8th AF bomber mission to Germany is abandoned at early stages due to deteriorating weather.
Twenty-four aircraft started their takeoff at 0545. The target was an airfield at Diepholz, Germany. General Walter Peck (CO 96th CBW) and Col Shower were command pilots on the lead ship (42-94963) piloted by Lt Hanna with crew # 076-R0 of the 791st BS.
The Group was recalled at approximately 0830 because of the deteriorating weather conditions. All ships brought their bombs back to base.
