Mission Narrative
8th AF Mission #941: 1303 bombers dispatched from all three Divisions to bomb visually on a variety of targets. The 2AD sent 336 aircraft to attack target in the Regensberg area, the 96CBW with the 467th were assigned an Oil Storage Depot at Regensberg.

The 467th dispatched 20 ships in two squadrons with the lead comprising of 9 ships, the second 11 ships. Assembly took place on the continent with good weather throughout to the target and return.

The lead crews departed Rackheath at 0900 hours and bombing was made visually at 1343 hours visually from 24,000ft.

Capt Sturgis led the first squadron with Lt Williams Crew #080-R3 in 44-50674 and the deputy lead was flown by Lt Holum Crew #088-R2 in 44-48860. The second squadron of 11 ships was led by Lt Patton Crew #087-R6 flying 44-49513.

All 20 ships were highly effective bombing the target visually with concentrated patterns on the MPI with excellent results. Some meager and fairly accurate flak was reported at the target but no aircraft sustained damage. All 20 ships successfully returned to Rackheath with an average mission time of 8 hours.
