Mission Narrative
1,045 bombers were dispatched for 8th mission #364 to hit airfields and rail targets in France. The 2nd BD dispatched 465 B-24's to hit airfields at Orleans/Bricy, Bourges, Avord and Etampes/Mondesir. The 467th BG led the 84 bombers of the 96th CBW to attack the airfield at Bourges.

Twenty-nine aircraft started taking off at 0500. Formation was a bit delayed because the Group Leader's VHF set was out. After a ten minute delay, the Deputy Group Leader took over the lead. Shortly afterward, it was determined the Deputy Lead's VHF was also out (although came back in around the Control Point). Unfortunately, the Wing was three minutes late arriving to 'Buncher 7'. A group of B17's approached the Wing formation at about the same time. One B17 collided with a B-24 from the 458th (which was flying high right on the 467th) and both ships crashed.

Lt Col Herzberg led the Group, flying with Lt. Cambell on 42-95094 'Leading Lady' with crew #053-R0 of the 790th BS. Lt. Brandon was Deputy Lead, flying with Lt. Sheehan on 42-95273 with crew #061-R0 of the 790th BS. The second squadron was led by Lt. Hooten, flying with Lt. Monefeldt on 42-95187 with crew #032-R0 of the 789thBS. Lt Wominack flew Deputy LEad for this squadron on 42-52525 'Six Bits' with crew #028-R0 of the 789th BS.

All ships bombed the target with 250lbs bombs. No enemy aircraft were seen and no flak was encountered. No casualties or aircraft were lost.
