In 2003, a committee from the 467th BG Association assisted in raising funds to build a B-24 memorial "in the birthplace of the Liberator", San Diego CA. The memorial honors those who built and flew The Consolidated B-24 Liberator. The bronze statue is identical to the one located at the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO.
The B-24 memorial is located in front of the Veterans Memorial Center at Balboa Park in San Diego. It is the centerpiece of the Veterans Memorial Garden - Air Garden. The statue was built by the same sculptor, Robert Henderson, who built the sculpture at the Air Force Academy. The model it at 1/6th scale with a wingspan of 18'.
